WHO ARE WE?

The Family Tree chart records 8 generations of Marianina and Matteo’s descendants. In the 148 years since Matteo’s birth, his progeny has grown, mainly on the North American continent. Our Italian roots are disappearing as we include other ethnic influences and shape our lives to our own unique environments. Even though we may not know each other well, if at all, the kinship remains.

As members of Libero’s family, we have made a significant contribution in the field of education. I am sure there are other areas of significance but I can only comment on what I know.

Clemmie started us off with 24 years of teaching experience.

The next generation made a formidable contribution, all in the Toronto area:

Alberindo - 31

Silvio - 39.5

Sylvia - 18

Elvino - 33

Jeannie – 10

= 131.5 years

Continuing the tradition, our children and their spouses are adding to the total. If I have left anyone out of this list, please let me know and I would like to have an update on the total years so far, just as a matter of interest.

Family reunion 1991

In the intervening years, each family has created its own story. The years have brought many changes. The family tree diagram is a testament to the current size of the Dynasty. From one unknown beginning we can number 192 of his descendants in less than 200 years.  Sadly, there are those whose presence we can no longer enjoy.

·       Libero died of complications after surgery in 1971.

·       Clemmie succumbed to colon cancer that same year.

·       Olindo died of heart disease in 1978.

·       Dorothy died of cancer in 1995.

·       Elda’s heart failed her in 1997

·       Alberindo’s prostate cancer caused his death in 1999.

·       Italo died of complications from an infection in 2000.

·       Henry died in 2003

·       Anna in 2005.

·       Wanda died in 2005 after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for many years.

The current senior generation of our branch of the family consists only of Livio and Bernice, from whom he is separated, Silvio and Jeannie, Sylvia and Jack, Elvino and Linda and Cinna and John. To our offspring we pass on this heritage. They will in turn create their own.
